Welcome to the updated website of Kings & Beggars!

A lot has happened since the last update — in the world and in our country. First the COVID-19 pandemic, then Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine changed the life of every one of us.

Artur Temchenko and Eugen Grinevich are now defending our country in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, so the band has been less active. But we never stopped making music: two tracks were recorded in this time — Bogurodzica and Wellerman.

Right now we are working on a new programme, which we will present to you very soon.

Opening the Baroque+ festival: Kings and Beggars in concert on 24 October

On 24 October at 18:00, in the Lyudkevych Hall of the Lviv Philharmonic, we open the Baroque+ festival with the concert Kings and Beggars — the presentation of our project Puncta Septima.

It is the instrumental music of the Italian Trecento, the age of Ars Nova: rare estampies from the 14th-century London Manuscript. The manuscript preserved the notes but not the answer to how this music should sound, so the performance becomes a search for a living tradition — its timbres, intonations and freedom.
